ME AND MY UNIVERSE
Me and my Universe is a photographic journey into the inner worlds of artists and musicians. The series does not show their works, but rather what drives them: special tools, symbols and biographical backgrounds that have brought them to their art or way of working.
In elaborately staged images, associative portraits are created that visualise the personal universe beyond the person and the work.
Stefan Fröhlich is a Berlin based guitarist and photographer. After an accident and a failed hand operation, his musical future was on the brink for a long time. When he had already said goodbye to the guitar, life took him on a new creative journey: He met a professor of photography at a vernissage, became a guest student and discovered a new passion. With the camera, he found a new form of expression that has accompanied and inspired him ever since. Today, Stefan Fröhlich is playing the guitar again.
Otto Baum combines art and design into a unique practice that is both technical and creative. With a background in textile and surface design and a passion for hand lettering, he usually realises his creative ideas not on paper or canvas, but directly on walls. The central stage of his work is the 3.60 x 4.60 metre practice wall in his studio, which is constantly being repainted and redesigned. At the centre of this is the use of his self-developed ‘Ottotools’ - customised tools, devices and apparatus that combine precision and innovation. From stencils and brushes to complex devices and digital planning tools: The process of creating his works is just as important as the final image. Baum's work makes experimentation and the interplay of technology, ideas and craftsmanship visible - and invites you to experience the creative process up close.
